Humor Hints
Laugh yourself to work:
- Keep a clown nose in your car. When traffic is slow, pop it on and see if
you don't get some interesting looks. You may even be allowed to merge
sooner.
- Stash a joke book, favorite cartoons, perhaps a fun or upbeat daily
calendar in the car. When traffic is at a standstill, read something
humorous.
In your office:
- Keep another clown nose in your drawer for use when a colleague or staff
person needs a laugh.
- Make a joy jar: Put your favorite candy in a jar. Add slips of paper with
positive sayings, quotes, one-liners or short jokes. Reach in for both
chocolate and a chuckle.
Make signs to post at work:
- Post signs on the back of restroom stall doors that say, "Looking good!"
- Make a copy of someone's hand on the copy machine, then title it "Pat on
the Back." Post it on a wall in a central place and encourage your
colleagues to back up to the wall whenever they need a pat on the back.
In meetings:
- Put at least two cans of silly string on the table and let the fun begin.
- Supply everyone with lollipops as most people lick in an up and down or
positive fashion, rather than side to side. This helps folks start out
positive and in a "yes" frame of mind.
